Motive CEO and co-founder Shoaib Makani has been recognized as a Top 50 SaaS CEO for 2021 by TheSoftware Report, a comprehensive source for market research and insights in the software sector. This year’s honorees represent some of the largest, fastest-growing, and innovative software companies driving the industry forward. They operate in spaces as diverse as banking technology, IT automation, and robotic surgery.

Collectively, the Top 50 SaaS CEOs were acknowledged for their skill in cultivating a sound work environment that promotes fairness, diversity, and inclusion. Diversity is a driving force of the culture Shoaib helped build when he and his co-founders launched Motive in 2013. Eight years later, the company’s culture remains rooted in the belief that “great people beget great companies.”

As in years past, this year’s honorees were selected based on thousands of nomination submissions from colleagues and peers in the software industry. Shoaib’s place at No. 2 in the rankings reflects the quality of the nominations submitted on his behalf, and the overall growth and market share Motive has achieved under his leadership.

With the release of the new AI Dashcam, Motive is transforming driver and fleet safety. Powered by industry-leading artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision, the AI Dashcam takes a proactive approach to road safety that helps prevent accidents, improve driving performance, and reduce costs.

Raising $200 million in Series E funding. When Motive raised $200 million from G2 Venture Partners, Index Ventures, Greenoaks, IVP, and other leading investors this June, it positioned the company to further expand our engineering team and continue building products that solve our customers’ biggest challenges. From the AI Dashcam created to prevent accidents, to the Fuel Hub that identifies inefficient fuel usage, Motive’s technology is helping companies across multiple industries improve the safety and productivity of their operations.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts. Motive has a strong commitment to DEI, and it shows in the company’s people and values. Motive believes that diversity drives innovation and helps communities adapt to rapid change. As a proud supporter of Base10 Partners’ new Advancement Initiative, the company has put those values into action.

Fuel Hub product release. Aside from driver wages, fuel is often the largest expense for fleets, totaling up to 25 percent of a fleet’s operating costs. With the introduction of the Motive Fuel Hub, fleets have a new way to cut fuel costs and operate more efficiently. The solution provides a consolidated view of a fleet’s fuel consumption and benchmarks performance across Motive’s expansive vehicle network.
