Two road-facing lenses work together to create stereo vision — powerful, human-like depth perception that allows the AI to more accurately judge how quickly the distance to vehicles and objects is changing. Expected in late 2026, stereo vision will dramatically improve the accuracy of Motive’s Forward Collision Warning, Lane Swerving, and Close Following alerts, giving drivers earlier, more reliable warnings to help avoid collisions.

Capture critical evidence with Automated License Plate Recognition.

A high-resolution 1440p zoom lens with a narrow field of view enables Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) to clearly capture license plates up to 40 feet away, or in rain or snow. Expected in mid-2026, this feature can help provide critical evidence in hit-and-runs, theft, and other incidents, helping exonerate drivers and resolve incidents faster.

Detect complex events other dash cams miss with Sensor Fusion.

By combining video, audio, telematics, GPS, and dual motion sensor (IMU) data, AI Dashcam Plus can detect subtle or complex safety events, such as identifying a break-in from the sound of glass shattering, or confirming a low-severity collision through vibration and brake noise. Expected in late 2026, Sensor Fusion can help you respond faster to protect your drivers.

Give drivers instant, hands-free support when they need it most.

Enable hands-free communication with live two-way calling.

When conditions change on the road, reaching a driver quickly and safely matters. Relying on a separate mobile phone is unreliable. Phones aren’t always accessible, batteries die, and handheld phone use is illegal in many states.

Coming in early 2026, live two-way calling will enable managers to reach drivers directly through the AI Dashcam Plus. By calling directly from the Motive Dashboard or Fleet App, managers can address time-sensitive issues like fatigued driving, weather emergencies, maintenance issues, and more. Drivers, meanwhile, can respond safely hands-free without having to use their phones.

Drivers can also connect instantly to managers using a simple “Hey Motive” voice command to report maintenance issues or request directions. A built-in speaker and digital omnidirectional microphone support clear conversations, even in noisy vehicle environments.

A unified device design creates a more stable connection by eliminating the delays that can occur when the AI Dashcam and Vehicle Gateway operate as separate devices. In two-device setups, video has to pass from the dash cam to the gateway before uploading to the cloud. Each step increases delays — and the risk of failure. 

With AI Dashcam Plus, video goes straight from the camera to the cloud. That means faster safety event uploads, helping ensure that critical collision footage uploads successfully, even if a cable disconnects after a severe incident. A built-in backup battery and LTE connection keeps recording and uploading, even if the vehicle loses power.

The AI Dashcam Plus uses two SIMs to give organizations more cellular coverage options, automatically connecting to the strongest available network to prevent connectivity gaps. Coming in late 2026, customers can expect multi-carrier connectivity to provide uninterrupted vehicle tracking and timely video uploads, even in rural areas.
