How AKISAA Logistics increased on‑time delivery by 95% and saved thousands with Motive.

With Motive’s AI-powered Integrated Operations Platform, AKISAA Logistics improved safety, stayed compliant, and increased on‑time delivery. All while building a culture of accountability across its Amazon Relay operations.

Overview

AKISAA Logistics LLC is a fast‑growing box‑truck carrier serving the St. Louis region with a focus on Amazon Relay freight. Since its founding, the company has built its reputation on accountability and consistent on‑time performance. In Amazon’s highly competitive middle‑mile network, these factors are critical to the smooth flow of freight. Led by owner Kenard Hill, AKISAA has expanded steadily by pairing disciplined operations with a leadership style rooted in safety and compliance.

As the organization grew, so did everyday demands. It became increasingly challenging to maintain visibility, stay compliant, and meet Amazon’s high performance standards. And when AKISAA had to navigate a couple of notable safety incidents, it underscored the need for stronger oversight, better real‑time tracking, and more accountability.

To unify safety, compliance, and fleet operations in a single system, AKISAA Logistics invested in Motive’s AI-powered Integrated Operations Platform to transform the way they operate.

increase in on-time delivery

Challenge

Before adopting Motive, AKISAA Logistics faced mounting pressure as the business expanded. As an Amazon Relay carrier, Hill wasn’t just trying to keep customers happy; he also had to meet Amazon’s expectations for on-time arrivals, low cancellation rates, and safe operations, all of which roll up into each carrier’s Relay performance score. Without real-time visibility into drivers, vehicle health, or route progress, it became increasingly difficult to manage safety, compliance, and on-time performance across a growing fleet.

A couple of safety incidents, including a truck rollover and a claim tied to an unauthorized passenger, highlighted how quickly a single event could impact insurance costs and the safety profile Amazon monitors through FMCSA BASIC scores and other compliance checks. Amazon requires carriers to maintain strong safety ratings, valid DOT and MC authority, and adequate insurance just to stay eligible for Relay. With that in mind, Hill needed better tools to stay ahead of issues instead of reacting after the fact.

Without accurate, trusted tracking tools, AKISAA’s on-time delivery record suffered. It was difficult to verify progress, anticipate delays, or proactively manage hours-of-service in a way that aligned with Amazon’s performance and safety thresholds. Limited visibility made it harder to maintain consistent performance, putting pressure on the Relay performance score that determines access to future loads and growth opportunities with Amazon.

Solution

AKISAA invested in the Motive Vehicle Gateway, the Motive AI Dashcam, and real‑time GPS tracking, all connected through the Motive Integrated Operations Platform. Together, these tools gave the company the visibility and data it needed to raise safety standards, meet requirements, and run more efficiently.

Motive’s geofencing helped AKISAA track driver progress and confirm on‑time arrivals. “I was able to put geofences in, so when my guys arrived in certain areas, I got an alert,” Hill said. “It helped me see if they were truly on time and exactly where they were..” With insights into driver location, the team could address delays before they grew into bigger issues, supporting stronger performance metrics for Amazon Relay.

Motive’s AI Dashcams added valuable safety protection and coaching opportunities. High-definition video evidence helped defend against false claims and gave Hill the insight he needed to coach drivers on high-risk behaviors, such as speeding or cell phone use.

The company holds weekly safety meetings, using Motive safety data and video clips to guide the discussion. Drivers with the most infractions lead the next week’s safety briefing. That approach keeps everyone engaged and accountable.

Motive’s maintenance features proved to be just as important. For a Relay carrier that has to keep trucks moving and avoid roadside violations, accurate diagnostic data is critical. Motive’s Vehicle Gateway gave Hill real-time fault codes and vehicle health insights that helped reduce repair costs and keep box trucks on the road longer.

“I showed the mechanic the DTC’s from Motive,” Hill said. “I went from being quoted for a  $9,000 head gasket job to a $1,400 fix, because the codes showed it was after-treatment—nothing to do with the head gasket.” With accurate codes in hand, AKISAA could question estimates, confirm the true issue, and avoid inflated repair bills that can erode margins on Amazon loads.

For a carrier working with Amazon Relay, compliance is non-negotiable. Amazon continuously monitors FMCSA safety ratings and BASIC scores, such as hours of service, unsafe driving, and vehicle maintenance. In addition, the corporation sets thresholds that are often stricter than federal minimums for carriers that want to join or stay in the program.

By using Motive’s compliance tools, AKISAA keeps accurate electronic logs, stays ready for roadside inspections, and has the documentation needed when Amazon or regulators review performance. That foundation of verifiable safety and compliance helps AKISAA protect its standing as a Relay carrier while building a stronger platform for operational performance and growth.

Results

Using Motive’s diagnostic insights,  AKISAA achieved a 95% increase in on-time delivery performance, strengthened safety practices through weekly coaching, and saved thousands of dollars in repair costs.

All of these improvements feed directly into Amazon’s Relay performance and safety metrics, helping AKISAA maintain the strong scores needed to stay in good standing and access more work on the Relay load board.

Today, AKISAA stands out as a reliable, tech-driven Amazon Relay carrier that leverages real-time visibility, streamlined processes, and proactive driver safety to deliver consistently high performance. The result is safer, more productive, more profitable operations.
