With the leadership of Gray Fox Strategic, Two Men and a Truck franchises gain real-time visibility and faster claim resolution with Motive.
Two Men and a Truck is a nationally recognized, franchised moving brand with more than 300 locations specializing in household moves. Built on a decentralized model, the business depends on strong safety standards, consistent operations, and efficient fleet management across hundreds of local teams. Within that system, Gray Fox Strategic oversees a portfolio of 13 Two Men and a Truck locations and manages a fleet of approximately 100 vehicles, playing a critical role in maintaining visibility, accountability, and performance while meeting rising insurance and safety expectations.
As safety requirements within the business grew more stringent, legacy telematics technology began to fall short. Limited reporting, unreliable data, and the absence of accurate video footage left operations teams unable to resolve incidents, validate claims, or consistently monitor driver behavior, increased risk exposure and operational friction. At the same time, insurance programs were pushing fleets toward dash cams, raising the stakes for selecting a solution that could be trusted at scale.
To address these challenges, the organization turned to Motive. With Motive AI Dual-Facing Dashcams, reliable vehicle tracking, and a unified analytics platform, Motive provided the visibility and accuracy needed to improve safety, support fair coaching, and simplify compliance across the distributed Two Men and a Truck fleet.
The platform created a single source of truth for safety and operational data, helping leadership teams move from reactive issue resolution to proactive risk prevention.
Two Men and a Truck faced major blind spots affecting safety, efficiency, and accountability across its roughly 100‑vehicle fleet. Their experience with their previous telematics provider shifted over time. “When we first started with our previous provider, it felt pretty flexible, but as time progressed, it became difficult to get hold of someone. The support just wasn’t there anymore,” said Jarrid Watts, director of operations at Gray Fox Strategic.
Without dependable customer service and with limited reporting, the team could not get the full picture they needed to coach and improve performance.
The lack of dash cam video made it hard to verify claims or resolve customer disputes with confidence. “We had a claim where someone said we hit an awning, but the old telematics provider wasn’t accurate enough for us to confidently refute it. I just didn’t trust it,” Watts recalled.
That uncertainty left the business exposed to potential losses, strained relationships, and longer resolution times.
Driver behavior added to the risk. Inconsistent practices, such as unsafe driving or unauthorized stops, often went undetected, which raised liability for the company and franchisees. Pressure from insurers to install dash cams was also increasing. “We knew insurance was pushing dash cams eventually. They really wanted us to find options to improve safety,” Watts explained.
Two Men and a Truck’s unique operating model relies on adaptable workflows and strong support for a widely deployed fleet. They needed to maintain quality and meet evolving safety expectations.
Gray Fox Strategic turned to Motive to address these challenges. The team adopted Motive Vehicle Gateway devices and dual-facing AI Dashcams across 100 Two Men and a Truck vehicles.
The combined solution gave managers immediate visibility into driver behavior and simplified compliance work.
Watts noted that Safety Scores dropped as soon as the team moved to Motive, because Motive surfaced risky behaviors the previous system wasn’t catching.
“When we turned on Motive’s dual-facing AI Dashcams, we received insight into the bad driving behaviors that have been impacting the business this entire time,” he said.
The rollout moved quickly. “We just ripped the Band-Aid off… The largest chunk, maybe 65–70%, got done in one day. It was a chaotic day, but we powered through,” Watts recalled.
To build consensus and trust around the transition, Gray Fox Strategic emphasized how the change would increase safety, fairness, and driver protection.“We explained, ‘This is going to protect you. If something happens, we’ll have footage to show you were doing the right thing,’” Watts said.
That message helped build trust and ease concerns.
Motive’s analytics and dashboards gave managers detailed insight into driver performance. With those insights, they could spot risky behaviors early and coach employees toward safer practices. Watts also noted additional appealing features, such as uploading DOT‑compliant documentation as a reliable backup to keep critical records in one place. The new system strengthened operations, aligned with the insurance program’s push for stronger safety measures, and supported consistent compliance across the group.
After installing Motive dual‑facing AI Dashcams, Gray Fox Strategic saw clear improvements in fleet operations and safety. The dash cams provided real‑time visibility into how people were driving, so the team could quickly identify and address issues such as cell phone use behind the wheel and unauthorized stops.
“With auto accidents, we’ve been able to pull and show our insurance carrier that our drivers did the right thing to swerve or move. But we also, equally, are seeing a lot of the bad, so it’s correcting those behaviors,” said Watts.
The ability to confirm routes, timelines, and events has been invaluable, especially when incidents are disputed. When allegations lack evidence, the team can defend drivers with facts, which protects the business and the people doing the work.“I have more trust in the software with Motive. Before, I wasn’t confident in our previous solution. Now if someone says we did damage, I can check our data and say, ‘This is exactly where we were,’” Watts said.
The data also supports proactive management. Detailed analytics and safety metrics make it easier to tailor coaching, set clear expectations, and follow up. That foundation is helping Gray Fox Strategic build incentive programs tied to driver performance, so safe behavior is both recognized and repeated. Managers are using these insights to encourage open communication, reinforce safe habits, and keep compliance on track. The result is a stronger safety culture that reaches from leadership to the front line.
The team’s focus on safety, accountability, and service continue to pay dividends. By improving visibility, supporting better coaching, and providing accurate data for insurance needs, Gray Fox Strategic has set its Two Men and a Truck franchises up for continued operational growth and efficiency. With Motive in place, they have the tools, information, and confidence to serve customers well and protect their drivers every day.
