What is Motive Reefer Monitoring?
Motive’s Reefer Monitoring solution provides visibility, control and protection to fleets hauling temperature sensitive cargo. Features include temperature, humidity and door tracking, fleet and driver alerts, historic reefer logging, and remote control capabilities.
How often are temperature and humidity collected by the Motive Environmental Sensor?
Under normal operations, the environmental data is collected every 1 minute. Data is transferred to a connected, powered Asset Gateway through a low-energy Bluetooth connection.
Do your Thermo King and Carrier integrations work with all reefer models?
Nearly all Thermo King and Carrier units from 2021 onward support our integrations natively, without requiring an Asset Gateway. Older units can be retrofitted easily with the addition of a dealer-provided telematics box. Motive’s installation team will assist in confirming your requirements and ensuring a smooth adoption process.
Do I need to use an Asset Gateway for the Carrier API or Thermo King API integrations?
With the API integration, no hardware is required. In some cases, operators choose to install Environmental Sensors for redundancy and additional coverage, coupled with an Asset Gateway.
How long does the battery last in the Motive Door and Environmental Sensor and Environmental Sensor?
The replaceable lithium battery in the Environmental Sensor lasts up to 3-5 years depending on environmental conditions.
Do the Environmental Sensor and Door and Environmental Sensor work with Motive Asset Gateway and Motive Vehicle Gateway?
Connectivity between the sensors and Asset and Vehicle Gateways are coming soon.
Do the Thermo King API integration and Carrier API integration work with Motive Asset Gateway Mini and Motive Vehicle Gateway?
Yes, you can install a Motive Asset Gateway Mini or Motive Vehicle Gateway on your reefer to provide real-time, high-frequency location reporting and other telematics, alongside your use of our reefer APIs. However, our reefer APIs (Thermo King API and Carrier API) do not require an Asset Gateway or Vehicle Gateway in order to function.
How far back can I view temperature history?
Accessible temperature data starts at the installation of an Environmental Sensor or Thermo King and Carrier integration. Customers must maintain an active subscription to access temperature logs in the Motive Dashboard. Reefer monitoring data is avaialble for export to local data storage.
