All Chemical brings fleet and spend management together with Motive’s end-to-end platform, giving them greater visibility and control across their entire operation while reducing costs.
All Chemical Transport Corp. is an industry leader in the transportation of non-hazardous and hazardous bulk liquid chemicals across across the U.S. and parts of Canada. With more than 160 employees and a fleet of over 300 domestic tankers and 140 ISO container chassis, the company has a long-standing commitment to ensuring the safety of its drivers and cargo.
All Chemical’s existing fleet and spend management systems were separate and disconnected, giving them little visibility or control over their vehicles, equipment and expenses. The mix of solutions was established over time as the company grew and as demands on the business and staff increased. As the All Chemical team tried to keep up, administrative burdens, increased costs, accidents, maintenance, and the risk of fraud kept increasing.
All Chemical needed a solution that could unify safety, fleet management, equipment monitoring, and spend management in one platform. All Chemical chose Motive, including Motive’s AI Dashcams, AI Omnicams, Vehicle Gateways, Asset Gateways, and the Motive Card. Since implementing the Motive platform, All Chemical has gained an unprecedented level of visibility and control across all facets of its operations and seen significant improvements in safety, productivity and costs.

All Chemical’s drivers transport non-hazardous and hazardous materials across North America and have to bring an extra level of vigilance to the job every day.
Safety was the biggest concern. But, managing a vast fleet of trucks and equipment, plus ensuring consistent compliance, equipment uptime, all while managing expenditures were also top priorities. Their existing systems were separate, cumbersome and inefficient, often leading to increased administrative overhead, wasted cycles and increased costs.
Drivers were often held responsible for accidents they didn’t cause, resulting in higher claims costs and increased liability and insurance costs for the company. Without video evidence showing what happened in an incident, it was difficult for All Chemical’s drivers or company leaders to prove their innocence. The company needed a reliable way to monitor driver behavior, coach to make improvements and exonerate drivers for accidents that weren’t their fault.
Their lack of side cameras made it difficult to determine fault in many incidents, leading to even more potential claims and increased insurance costs – not to mention equipment downtime, litigation costs and out of work drivers. Additionally, the lack of comprehensive safety tools often left All Chemical vulnerable to false claims and ambiguous accident reports, resulting in substantial financial liabilities and unnecessary strains on their insurance.
With its previous provider, All Chemical had to manually track each time a driver changed vehicles. “If a vehicle broke down and the driver had to use a spare, we had to go back and manually re-code each fuel purchase from that driver to get it reallocated to the correct vehicle,” says Anthony Coruccini, All Chemical Transport’s chief operating officer. “That created exceptions in our IFTA reporting and discrepancies in our miles per gallon. It was a big issue.”
Another significant challenge was the time-consuming process of onboarding new trucks. Previously, installing new equipment was a time-consuming process, draining resources and delaying operations. “Before switching to Motive, installation with PeopleNet would take at least half a day, tying up a mechanic for 4 to 5 hours per truck.” This inefficiency became a major bottleneck as the company grew.
Additionally, their fuel card system with Comdata was unreliable, often failing and causing delays for drivers when they needed fuel or other essentials on the road. “With Comdata, it just never worked, no matter what we did,” Coruccini reflects. With limitations on what drivers could purchase and inadequate customer service, the previous system was inefficient and unreliable. Because it was separate from All Chemical’s telematics system, they couldn’t correlate miles driven to miles per gallon. That meant reporting was a knot hole.
Insurance rates continued to creep up. Equipment downtime increased due to lagging maintenance. Fuel costs continued to rise and compliance reporting became even more difficult to report accurately because it had to be done manually.
As All Chemical continued to grow, the burdens and costs continued to increase. They knew they needed an integrated platform to streamline operations and reduce costs at the same time. Motive was the answer.
All Chemical adopted the Motive platform, including driver safety, fleet management, equipment monitoring and spend management. Since implementing the solution, All Chemical has experienced a 30% growth in revenue, supported by the operational and cost savings from Motive.
Coruccini notes, “We’ve added 40 trucks and only needed to hire one dedicated person for safety, compliance, coaching, and integration with Motive. That’s it. With Trimble, we would’ve needed three more people.”
Motive’s solutions reduced the installation time by 93%. “Installing Motive takes about 20 minutes per truck and we can do it ourselves,” says Coruccini. “It saved us $52,000 in installation costs and at least 180 hours.”
Reducing accidents starts with safer drivers and Motive coaches drivers with alerts in the moment when risky driving behavior happens, such as speeding, following too close, cell phone use, or harsh braking.
After switching to Motive, All Chemical has had just one at-fault accident. Coruccini attributes that to the real-time safety feedback drivers get from the Motive AI Dashcams. All Chemical’s safety performance has improved so much with Motive, they can now focus exclusively on drivers who need it most.
“Motive has really helped our marginal drivers improve,” Coruccini says. “It benefits us as a company, and it benefits our drivers. We can coach drivers we may have terminated in the past. Now we can retain them and that’s important in a tough labor market.”
Motive’s AI Omnicams have been a game-changer too. Because many accidents originate from the side, the AI Omnicam is particularly useful in exonerating All Chemical from false claims. With the Motive AI Omnicam, All Chemical gets 360° visibility around every vehicle. Used in conjunction with the dual-facing Motive AI Dashcam, the AI Omnicam gives All Chemical up to six camera angles and complete visibility around every vehicle in their fleet.
“The AI Omnicams have made a huge impact by removing ambiguity and second-guessing when accidents happen. We can clearly see if our truck had position and if another vehicle ran into it,” Coruccini explains. “This clarity has eliminated potential claims in at least five instances. It’s been amazing.”
Overlay functions on the Motive Live View map show managers weather that their drivers are heading toward so they can reroute them and make the best decision, based on accurate, live information, for their safety.
Tom Grille, a dispatcher at All Chemical, recalls a time when one of his drivers was headed toward a tornado zone. “After looking at the weather overlay in Motive, I gave one of our drivers a heads up that he should take cover. That weekend, my driver called to thank me because later he saw the damage from the tornado. He was safe at home at the pool with his grandchildren.”
Motive also allows All Chemical to facilitate maintenance easily, indirectly saving the company money. “Through Motive’s tools, I’m able to access every tractor that indicates a fault so we can look up the fault codes,” Grille explains. “If it’s critical, we get it taken care of. But if it’s not affecting the operation or safety, we can hold off.” Motive also helps with routine maintenance scheduling so that vehicles are up and running and less prone to breakdowns and down time. “With Motive, we’re saving at least two hours per instance whenever equipment has an issue outside of the terminal. This translates to over $60,000 annually in time and cost savings by preventing downtime and keeping our drivers moving efficiently.”
The operational improvements didn’t stop there. All Chemical replaced their Comdata fuel card with Motive Card. As Coruccini notes, “With the Motive Card, we’ve saved an average of 3% on fuel annually.” Motive Card provides All Chemical with an easy and reliable way for drivers to purchase fuel and other essentials on the road, and to manage fuel expenses, further streamlining operations and reducing administrative complexities.
“With Comdata, it just never worked no matter what we did. Motive saves us a ton of time, and we get better results,” says Corrucini. “We have a one-source solution where we can onboard a driver, hand him the Motive Card, and know that the card will handle all the spend he’ll ever need on the road.”
With Motive, if an All Chemical driver ever changes trucks, the system automatically routes fuel purchases to the correct truck, saving considerable time for IFTA compliance and other reporting.
While the company hasn’t detected any signs of fraud, Motive Card proactively addresses fraud for All Chemical through enhanced security protections and telematics-backed fraud detection. With Motive Card, All Chemical’s finance team can protect the business and stop unauthorized spending.
All Chemical’s results have been impressive. All Chemical’s commitment to improving operations, combined with Motive’s AI-enabled applications and responsive technical support, has led to greater operational efficiencies, better driver safety, and seamless spend management at the company.
“Over the past five years, we’ve experienced substantial growth without a significant increase in administrative costs. Motive has made onboarding trucks much quicker compared to our previous provider,” Coruccini states.
We’re able to save a considerable amount of time utilizing the Motive Card, AI Dashcams, and the AI Omnicam right in the same platform with the telematics and other driver analytics. It’s all tied together, giving us a better and more reliable source of information so we can make better decisions in every corner of the business.
According to Coruccini, the company’s investment in Motive is having a positive impact across multiple parts of the business. “We’re able to save a considerable amount of time utilizing the Motive Card, AI Dashcams, and the AI Omnicam right in the same platform with the telematics and other driver analytics,” he says. “It’s all tied together, giving us a better and more reliable source of information so we can make better decisions in every corner of the business.”
According to Grille, “We have drivers that have driven over 3,000,000 miles accident and ticket free.”
