Getting started

Get fleet admin credentials
If you’re managing the entire Beacon installation process, you’ll need to be set up as a fleet admin in your company’s Motive Fleet Dashboard. An existing fleet admin can help you attain these credentials.

Enable Bluetooth scanning for Beacon devices
Ensure your Motive Mesh Network devices have Bluetooth listening enabled in your Motive Fleet App and Driver App Settings page. Vehicle Gateways are enabled by default.

Go to the Devices tab
Follow the in-app instructions to guide you through installing Beacon. Once complete, skip to Step 10.

Log in to the Fleet Dashboard
Ensure you use your fleet admin credentials when logging in

Add an asset
Either add a new asset or edit an existing asset from the Assets tab of the sidebar menu.

Assign your Beacon
Ensure a Beacon is assigned to the asset of your choice by using the serial number (printed on the bottom of the device) to assign your sensor to the chosen asset.

Install your Beacon
Attach the mounting plate to your desired asset using the provided adhesive or screws. Then, attach the Beacon to the plate and secure it using the provided screws.

Activate your Beacon
Using the reset pin, press the pinhole reset button to start broadcasting Bluetooth signals.

View your asset live on Fleet View
Once the Beacon is fully set up, you’ll be able to track your tagged assets on the Motive Fleet Dashboard.
Understanding LED behavior
LED will stay illuminated for a few seconds after the pinhole reset button is pressed.
One Red flash
Entering ship mode from active mode.
One Green Flash
Entering active mode from ship mode.
Two Green Flashes
Entering active mode after a reboot.
One Blue Flash
Active and broadcasting bluetooth signals.
One Orange Flash
An error has occurred.
One White Flash
Device is updating firmware
